Important information and necessary issues for Sandwip Upazila Health Complex
Sandwip Upazila is a remote, hard to rich and offshore island upazila of Chittagong district. Sandwip upazila health complex is working with many limitations and these are as follws, 1. The hospital building is too old and 50% of the building can not be utilized as it already been damaged. 2. Upazila health complex has no electric supply from government power supply system. 3. Hospital has no water supply facility. 4. no consultant is working. 5. Out of 10 posts only three SSN is working here of them only one is female, so basic EOC service is very poor here. 6. Speed boat ambulance can not be utilized as driver post yet not been created. Besides other auxellary stuffs e.g. Pharmacist, MT Lab, SACMO and 4th class staff ( Cleaner, Mali, Ward boy, Aya) also vacant. For electric supply high powered solar system to be stablished. Sandwip upazila health complex is situated at the most northern part of Sandwip. So about 70% of the total population can not get health care service from this health complex. Considering this Haramia 20 bedded hospitals was stablished in 2009 at the central place of Sandwip. Administrative approval and man power already been aproved. This hospital will provide a easy accessible health care service to the maximum people if it can be operating with full man power and logistic suport immediately.
