Preface
We are glad to publish this health bulletin for the Akkelpur upazilla as per government policy to disseminate the information to public, different development organizations and government departments for use in planning for future development of health sector of this upazilla. Also there are information about deficiencies in this upazilla which will draw attention of the concern authorities to take necessary actions. Akkelpur Upazilla is one of 5 upazillas of Joypurhat district of Rajshahi division. In this health bulletin we will try to inform you about the setup, activities and other aspects of the Health Sector of the Akkelpur Upazilla of the Joypurhat District. There will be some basic information regarding health setup, services we provide, our manpower, activities and other matters. The data of this bulletin contain information of the calendar year 2014. We hope that this bulletin will be helpful to all for fulfilling the basic health needs and thereby maintaining healthy life.

Important information and necessary issues for Akkelpur Upazila Health Complex
Akkelpur Upazila Health Complex is a 50-beded hospital, but there is shortage of doctors. Most of the posts of Consultants are vacant. So, providing adequate services is very difficult. Posts of Medicine, Surgery, Guy-nae&obs, Cardiology, Orthopedics, Skin & VD, Eye, E.N.T. and Anesthesiology consultants are vacant, Operation theatre is not functioning because post of anesthetists and other Consultants are Vacant. Currently major surgery is not possible in this UHC. Accordingly EOC Program is hampering. These problems were informed to the higher authorities through proper channel. We hope that the authorities will take necessary actions to solve these problems so that we can improve our services to the people of akkelpur Upazila of Joyperhat district.
