Preface

Netrokona, situated at the Northeast corner of Bangladesh is a district of natural beauty. The District presents a wonderful Hills of China Clay at Bijoypur in Durgapur Upazila. There is an aboriginal Cultural Acadamy at Birishiri in Durgapur. An old Religious Holly Place, Hazrat Sha Sultan Camruddin Rumi (R:)’s Mazar Shorif present at Madanpur, in this District. Ithas an area of 2841.39 sq. kilometers with Population of 22,53,853. It has 10 Upazilas, 05 Pourashavas, 86 unions, 258 Wards and 4,49,322 Households, It has a district hospital of 100 beds (Under Construction) With best regards to our father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Brahman whose inspiration makes our health service available up to Upazila level. Hence I would like to thank his efficient daughter, Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for spreading health service up to village level, even up to house to house, through community clinic establishment. Road communication of the villages with Upazilas and District head quarter is not satisfactory. Total khaliajuri Upazila and some parts of madan, Mohangonj and Kalmakanda Upazila are low lying lands. In the rainy season most of the land goes under water. Out of ten two Upazillas Kalmakanda and khaliajuri hard to reach area. Two upazilas of the district (Durgapur and Kalmakanda) was endemic for Malaria but now we are in pre-elimination stage. Most of the people of this District depend on agriculture, fishing and small enterprise business. No Large Scale industries yet not established here, but surplus paddy production is at Netrokona. Majority Infrastructer facilities (about 314 in health and family sectors) is wrecked condition. This facilities need immediate renovation, maintenance and extension. I hope all this information, will help us for planning and bridging the laps & gaps in health services of this Adhunik Sadar Hospital, Netrokona.

Important information and necessary issues you want to raise
In spite of having much sincerity, last year we could not provide our maximum efforts to improve the health status due to many reasons. Here I like to mention some important approaches which will help us to achieve good impacts in health status of Netrokona in future. 1. The vacant Sr. Con Surgery- 01 person, Junior Con. ENT, EYE, Orthopedics- 03 persons, EMO o1 Person, Dental Surgeon 01 person, Staff Nurse-05 persons and Assistant. Nurse-04 persons posts should be filled up immediately. 2. There is no Sanctioned post for Ward Masters, Statisticians, Security Guards, Malis, Ward Boys, Ayas and cleaners. So we need immediate above mentioned manpower for smooth Running of Hospital and Compliance of Patients. 3. All the repairable equipment should be repaired as soon as possible. 4. Emergency Basis an Ambulance is necessary. Infrastructure for 100 bedded hospital will be completed by July/2016. 5. We need 100 bed staff strength. Currently we have organogram for 50 bedded hospital. We have diet with medicine allocation of 100 bed capacity. 6. Bed Occupancy Rate of this district Hospital 171.5 that is beyond the capacity of this Hospital. So the patients : Compliance are not satisfactory. I request to increase the hospital capacity from 100 beds with manpower and up to 250 beds as soon as possible. Finally I am very happy to write this Health Bulletin of 2015 because this document will help us to compare our progress in upcoming years. This is a very useful document and will help the public to understand health services and to provide us the useful advice for improvement in future. Urgent steps should be taken to complete the infrastructure of the hospital from 100 to 250 bedded stage with establishment with one Medical College and Hospital, One Institute of Health Technology for Creation of Supplementary/Ancillary technical staffs with better idea of employment of Middle level educated people for the purpose of eradication of poverty. Wishing all Sound health and longivity.
