Preface

I am immensely pleased to see that MIS of DGHS has once again taken the initiative of publishing annual report of individual health institute and hospital for the year 2016.It is truly a wonderful initiative of the MIS to take such a challenging task of bringing the health sector of Bangladesh under a single umbrella.Not only from Bangladesh but pepole from different parts of the globe are able to notice the immense imporvement of our health sector. As this is the only specialized hospital in the field of Neuro Surgery and Neurology in the government sector of Bangladesh, expectation of our country men from us is quite high. Rendering world quality service is our prime moto. That's why besides the Medical Officers ; Asst. Professors, Associate Professors as well as the renowned Professors of Neurology and Neurosurgery are providing service daily at both out door as well as at indoor.This year we have started post graduation course at both MD (Neurology) and MS (Neurosurgery) in collaboration with BSMMU. There for, we can rightly be said that the institute holds its prestige not only for providing service to the people but also for building future neurologists & neurosurgeons.

Important information and necessary issues you want to raise
Since the establishment of National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in September 2012 it has been reputedly serving patients of both child and adult age groups suffering from various neurology and neuro surgery related disorders. Number of patients coming to OPD, emergency dept and indoor are also on rising trend. That's why it has become a burning issue to expand the existing facilities to cope with the ever growing patients. With this end in view, we have already acquired 80 decimal land from Ministry of land adjacent to our current infrastructure.Relevant work regarding setting up another 800 bedded modern hospital is in full swing.The newly set up building will serve the following purpose- emergency service,medical services including expansion of service for stroke patients and neuro psychiatric illness,surgical services,diagnostic imaging and support services,rehabilitative care services,geriatric unit with palliative care facility,pediatric unit with new set of areas for autistic and special needs children with all rehabilitation facility,critical care service,outpatient area for better service delivery and research area on neuro care to reduce future burden of illness. Finally, I express my heartfelt gratitutde to all of you for your patience hearing. Assalamualikum.
