Preface
Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital is one of the best public and tertiary level hospital with modern medical facilities. It is situated at the central point of the capital city at Sher-E-Bangl Naga over 19.8 acres of land nearby Gonabhaban and Parliament house. Now it is a 720 bedded full fledged general hospital including 18 indoor depart's as well as outdoor services and by the next year it is going to be 850 bedded hospital. On an average 1500 patients get out- patient services from different depart's and the demand is rapidly increasing day by day. About 200 patients get daily admission in different depart's and about 250 patients take emergency service from emergency department. ICU with ten beds is providing necessary services for critical patients and HDU and recovery unit,NICU, PICU,casualty ward and full fladged burn unit will provide services very soon. Since 2006 MBBS and BDS courses have been going on with distinguished teachers and results are satisfactory. All academic activities including central morning session, daily intra-units,weekly departmental grand round and journal presentation, scientific seminar, workshop, symposium, with extracurricular activities are going on regular routine basis. Since 2010 this MCH is a centre for MCPS, FCPS,post graduate medical professional examinations of different discipline going on with full reputation. Almost all area of MCH under coverage of digital sound and service system with CCTV monitoring,central oxygen plant and gasline, central sound system, optical networking with broad band internet service and WIFI system. Besides these a mega project is taken to improve services as hospital out-door, operation theatre, cabin block, new ward expansion, hospital gate, drainage system,gardening and beautification of surrounding of this MCH. I hope all the activities may contributed to achieve present government goal of vision 2021 Digital Bangladesh. I hope every success of this health bulletin -2014.

Important information and necessary issues for Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital |
The importance of ShSMCH is very important due to the geographical position as well as the center point of the capital city. On an average 1200-1500 visitors come here daily for , their necessary treatment .It is increasing day by day. There are 720 beds, and it increasing 850 beds 13 wards, about 28 departments i.e . medicine , surgery, , gynae and obs, pediatrics, ENT, orthopedics, ophthalmology , casualty ,respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, nuro-medicine,physical medicine. nephrology . skin and vd, oral and maxillofacial, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, urology and burn. The transmission of 850 beds ,extension of manpower, ICU, HDU,NICU, PICU, Plastic and Burn unit and vertical extension of building is now under processing.Most of the people in our society know that Shaheed Suhrawardi Medical College Hospital is a specialized heart hospital. All academic activities, e g. seminar symposiun , gournal presentation, morning session, clenical presentation, medical education have been running with full participation of all teachers and trainee doctors.Besides our undergraduate examinations almost all sorts of post graduate examinations e. g FCPS, MCPS are conducted here .
