Important information and necessary issues for Chittagong Medical College Hospital |
I would like to address some of the important issues which if solved will help us to achieve better in terms of patients care.(1) It is the only govt. hospital outside the capital performing open heart surgery, having largest NICU (SCANU) with full swing Burn and Plastic surgery department. (2) Last year this hospital is upgraded to 1313 (This only administrative but no functional benefit found) bed but the budget remained as before that is for 1010 bed. It should be1313 beded. (3)New post for the Doctor, Nurses, Lab Technicians are suggest.Staff should be created in proportion to the 1313 beds. (4) Nurse patient ratio should be improved. (5) Future expansions of CMCH phase II should start as early as possible. (6) Lack of residential facilities of Officers and Staffs: According to the number of officer and staffs the residential facilities are very minimum. As a result of scarcity of residential facilities patient care is hampered as doctors/staffs are coming from distant places for their shifting duties. (7) Proposals for creating new posts for ICU, Casualty, Plastic Surgery and Urology Units have been established and the activities of vthese units are going on. But new posts are not created yet which creates serious problems in providing patient care. The proposals for creation of new posts in these units have sent to MOH & FW. (8) The following major equipments & establishments are essential to render better service to the ailing people viz. CT Scan, MRI, Digital X-Ray, Color Doppler USG(upgrade version), Arthoscope, C-Arm Machine & massive renovation of OT complexes , establishment of neonatal ICU, CSSD & Laundry Plant (9) Land: Total area of CMCH is 80 acres. But now about 65 acres of land is in our position. The rest of the land is occupied by illegal occupants. We tried to get back the lands but they sued in the high court and now it is in status co position.
