Birampur Upazila Health Complex | Health Bulletin 2014 |
Preface
Bangladesh is one of the most densely populated and disaster-prone countries in the world. Birampur Upazila is not an exception. Moreover there are many population of tribal origin, namely Tribe. The literacy rate and economical status of the Tribal population are very poor and, it was very challenging to provide health services to this population. In spite of this difficulties Birampur Upazila has made marked progress in health service development. It is a great pleasure that Birampur upazila received National Awards 2012 on safe motherhood for excellent performance on maternal health.
It is the third time that Birampur upazila has published a health Bulletin 2014 under ministry of health & family welfare. The Bulletin is mainly confined to the public health services. The present information is on four major ares, morbidity, mortality, resource availability and provision of services. The information revised and brought up to date to reflect as far as possible the situation during 2013.
I wish to place on record of my appreciation and grateful thanks to all officials who gave generously their time & knowledge, providing data. My thanks are also due to the valuable services rendered by the staff of medical statistics unit that has planed and co- coordinated the bulletin

Important information and necessary issues for Birampur Upazila Health Complex |
Despite progress in comprehensive essential obstetric care services many other health indicators need to be improved. To provide health services to the population we are facing several constraints, notably scarcity of manpower. Eighty percent of post of doctors is vacant. To improve and sustain progress it is essential to fille up the vacant post immediately. To improve child survival and maternal health, consultant post of pediatrician should be filled up. Medical equipments and logistic support should be continued in a timely fashion. Repairable instruments should be repaired immediately. Doctor and nurses need more training on IMCI, communicable and non-communicable diseases.
Finally, I am very happy to publish this health Bulletin 2014, because this document will help us to compare our progress in upcoming years. This is very useful document and will help the public to understand health services and to provide us the useful advice for improvement.
