Preface
This 250 Bed Hospital at Patuakhali is the second largest hospital in Barisal division.Initially it was established as 50 bed sadar hospital and gradually upgraded to 100 bed modernised sadar hospital in 1979. Then 150 beaded general hospital in 2003 and finally 250 beaded hospital in 2005.Huge number of patients from patuakhali district and neighboring areas have been receiving health services from this institution every year since its starting.In addition a new medical college is going to be established shortly in the existing campus of this hospital and it will gradually transfer into a 500 bedded medical collage hospital. Notably in the year (2013) -1,13,245 patients were treated in the out patient department.In spite of acute crisis of doctors,we have been trying our level best to provide the best possible health services to the people of Patuakhali and for that since 2001,we achieved the best performance award in EMOC for 10 times from the honorable prime minister / Health minister of peoples republic of Bangladesh.This historical step taken to publish the local health bulletin is undoubtedly praiseworthy.
