Barguna Civil Surgeon Office | Health Bulletin 2015 |
Preface
Bismillahir Rahmanir Rahim. It is our pleasure to thank MIS, DGHS for making this time-needed effort of Local Health Bulletin. It contains all necessary infomations of Health services of Barguna district. Barguna is a densely populated remote coastal district with 991130 people in1939.39sq .km area. It is well known to the world as SIDR and AYLA affected area.People of this area are mostly poor.. They depend on cultivation, fishing and small business for their livelihood.Road communication is not good here . Because two large rivers (Payra and Bishkhali ) have divided the district into three parts. Diarrhoea is endemic in this area which is more in Spring and Summer.Acute shortage of Doctors(52 out of 141sanctioned posts) makes better health service delivery difficult.Natural disasters make the scenery more troublesome.

Important information and necessary issues for Barguna Civil Surgeon Office
Barguna is a remote coastal district with about 1 million people living here.An acute scarcity of doctors are present here. Among the 141 sanctioned posts of doctors only 52 are existing now which makes the Health service delivery very difficult. So immediate posting of 80 to 90 doctors are essential for smooth health service delivery. This district is cyclone (SIDR,AYELA) prone area. Load shedding is a common event due to this situation. We frequently pass 3 to 5 days without Electricity due to extreme rain and thunder shower leading to load shedding.Hence we can not perform our digital office activities. So a Generator is very essential for Civil Surgeon Office. On the other hand we carry huge number of MSR& stationary materials from Dhaka ,Barisal & Khulna to Barguna DRS ,and subsequently Barguna DRS to all Upazila health complexes & Sub-centers. It spends about 10 lacs or more taka annually for this purpose. So a Mini track (3 Tone) is required for this office . which will help to reduce the Govt. expenditure. The Construction Works of 250 bedded hospital promised by Honorable Prime Minister Sheik Hasina is expected to be completed by june 2016.But man power and residential facilities for doctors and staffs are not yet allotted by the govt. So these works should be started immediately to make the 250 bed hospital functioning in time after completion of construction work.
