Preface

It is a matter of great pleasure that Annual health bulletin 2016 of Islampur Upazila is going to be published. This bulletin contains all the health related information of Islampur Upazila of 2015. It is published to disseminate the information of health related activities of Islampur upazila to other department and development partners of health.I hope all the information of this bulletin will help for planning and bridging in health services of Upazila. It will also help us to find constraints and to see the results and achievement of service in 2015.This bulletin contains the status of MDG-4 and MDG-5,which will help to localize the MDG targets. The information on safe drinking water and sanitation status, top five causes of mortality and morbidity in different age group of people and status of human resources of upazila will definitely help the authority to take necessary action and future planning. We could not give our maximum efforts in previous year because of lack of Specialist Doctors & Nurses. So,it is very necessary to fulfill the vacant posts of Jr.consultants & Nurses immediately. Publication of annual health bulletin by every upazila is a landmark initiative in health sector of Bangladesh. I hope this will help us to find out the real scenario of the health care system of the country and to take necessary steps to achieve national and international targets. Thanks to all.

Important information and necessary issues you want to raise
Due to lack of Anaesthesiologist, Obs&gynae surgeon,OT nurses and other auxiliary staffs our OT Complex is not functioning properly.Immediate fullfilment of vacant posts of specialist doctor and nurses will make it possible to do Cesarian section and other emergency operations in the health complex regularly. It will be a great help to the poor rural people of this upazilla.Still Birth, Neonatal & Maternal death has decreased in comparison to previous year.Under 5 years patients and NCD patients are increasing. So IMCI and NCD related refresher training should be conducted for all doctor & paramedics.
