Preface

It is my pleasure to publish the health bulletin 2016 of Phulpur Upazila Health Complex, Mymensingh. It is published to disseminate the overall health status of this upazila to all related to health sector as well as other sectors and developmental partners of health. This bulletin contains all the health-related information of this upazila of the year 2015 including the MDG-4 and MDG-5 statuses, EPI and EmOC services as well as information on access to safe drinking water and sanitation status. Phulpur is the largest upazila in Mymensingh district. It is about 30kms to the north of Mymensingh sadar. There are 20 unions and 409 villages. About 6,57,654 people live in this upazila. Most of them live in low socioeconomic condition. People living here depend mostly on agriculture. Sanitary condition is not up to the standard level. Tube-well is the main source of water for drinking & household purposes. The main river flowing by the health complex is Khoria. This health complex is situated in such a suitable place that communication facilities with the unions as well as other upazilas are easily accessible. Above all Dhaka-Sherpur highway passes beside the health complex. This health bulletin is a reflection of our services and it will demonstrate the result and achievements of this upazila in health sector in 2015. I hope it will help in planning and improving quality service delivery in this area. Finally I would like to thank professor Dr. Abul Kalam Azad, director of MIS and Additional Director General, administration for his continuous support behind this health bulletin software. It is indeed a remarkable step in the digitalization of our health sector, with a view to achieving a digital Bangladesh.

Important information and necessary issues you want to raise
Phulpur upazila is one of the largest upazilas in Bangladesh. It has a fifty (50) bedded health complex and three (03) union sub centers (RD). Out of 75 proposed community clinics 66 are functioning and 03 are under construction. CHCPs, Health Assistants & FWAs are providing services at community clinics. There are 17 Union Health and Family Welfare Centers (UH & FWC), which are run by the FWVs and SACMOs. Three(3) registered private clinics are also providing service here. In spite of having all these health care facilities there is a lack of a trauma center in this upazila. As I have mentioned earlier in the preface that Dhaka-Sherpur highway is beside the health complex, injury cases have to be dealt by the physicians & other health staffs frequently. Therefore,we need a trauma center immediately to save the lives & reduce impairments of the victims of RTAs .We also need some more union sub centers to render services at the doorstep of the villagers. All sanctioned and vacant posts are published here to bring attention of the higher authority. I would like to point out some necessities for the kind consideration of the higher authority, which will help us to improve our service in future. These are- 1. We need a trauma center in this upazila 2. The vacant posts should be filled up soon 3. Number of community clinics should be increased 4. All the repairable equipments should be repaired as early as possible. 5.Our doctors and nurses need more training on IMCI and EPI I feel proud that my staff are delivering a good service to the poor villagers with so many limitations. This health bulletin is a document of our work, I hope it will help us to compare our progress in future.
