Preface

Thanks to almighty God for publishing this Health bulletin of this upazila for the fifth time. This bulletin is prepared as per new guideline of MIS, DGHS, Dhaka. This bulletin contains all the health related information like health facilities, manpower, present health status etc. of this upazila during last year, 2015. All the health related programs like- EPI, IMCI, Deworming, Vitamin A Supplementation, Non Communicable Diseases (NCDs), MCH Services etc. are implementing at all levels in this upazila. We are also providing health services to the grass root level through community clinics. The achievement of this program will be reflected through this health bulletin. The international classification of diseases (ICD-10) is applied in this bulletin for diagnosis and causes of deaths that simplifies statistical analysis. I hope all the information of this bulletin will help for planning and bridging the gaps in health services of this upazila. The bulletin contains the status of MDG4 & MDG5, which will help to localize the MDG target in this upazila. It contains also the information of safe drinking water and sanitation status of the upazila. All the sanctioned and vacant posts are published in this bulletin of 2016. I would like to take attention of the higher authority to look into this issue. I have tried my level best to make this health bulletin authentic than last year. Finally I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to my higher authority for setting us another step ahead towards digital Bangladesh. Important information and necessary issues you want to raise
Number of R.P.W & 1st ANC has not become equal, because many of pregnant women had been registered by health Assistants, who are not entitled to give ANC service. So some of the R.P.W failed to take the Ist ANC from appropriate health personal. The important information of this upazila is up-gradation of the health complex from 31 to 50 bed has completed and handed over in June, 2011, The manpower, budget and logistics are not fully supplied. Now 50 bed is functioning with existing manpower and budget. So we could not deliver better services, like major surgical procedures, Caesarean section, specialist doctors service in this health complex. The posts of doctors and consultants for 50 bed are not sanctioned till now. The posts should be filled up immediately and 50 bed should be started with full manpower, budget and logistics. We have two ambulances, one is out of order and auctionable for last 12 years, another ambulance is functioning , but requires frequent repair. So we need a new ambulance for better service.The x-ray machine is out of service for last 18 months. We can not do radiological examinations in this hospital. So we need a new digital x-ray machine. We also face much problem due to lack of a generator or required no of IPS. So we need one large generator and/or 3-4 IPS for proper service. I hope this bulletin will help us to solve these problems of this upazila for providing better service to the people. This is a big upazila with 21 unions. Large number of pregnant women are deprived from comprehensive EOC. So EOC services should be started in this UHC as soon as possible.
