Gazipur was originally a sub-division of Dhaka district. It was upgraded to district on 1st march 1984. It consists of 1163 villages, 05 upazilas, 45 unions, 710 mouzas, 03 municipalties and one City Corporation.It has an area of 1741.53 sq. km and is bounded by Mymensingh and Kishoreganj on the north; Dhaka and Narayanganj on the south; Narsingdi on the East; Dhaka and Tangail on the west. Total population of Gazipur is 3508003 . Various Institutions such as Bangladesh Rice Research institute, Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institue, NATA, Seed Certifying Agency, Security Printing Press, BMTF, Bangladesh Ordnance Factory, BDP, BRAC dairy Farm etc. are located here. There are five universities in Gazipur namely Bangabondhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University, Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology, Bangladesh Open University Bangladesh National University and the Islamic University of Technology. Natural beautiful places of interest like "Bhawal national Park" is in Gazipur. Bishaw Estema Moydan is located in Gazipur. I am very glad to publish the bulletin.
