Rajshahi district was a part of the pundra region of ancient Bengal and earlier it was known as "Beuleah". Along with all of Bangladesh, Rajshahi witnessed both great atroceties by the pakistan army and heroic struggles by freedom fighters during the liberation war in 1971 and it is a healthy, educational and friendly environmental city. The area of Rajshahi District is 2463 sq km. It has 9 upazilas, 72 unions with 462378 households. All the upazila is accessible through roads. The population is around 2913779. Bagmara upazila is the most populated and large upazila of this district. Most of the house is made of mud, brick and the road condition is very well. The Padma is the main river which passes beside the Rajshahi city. Most of the people in this district depend on agriculture.
