Preface

We are very happy to publish the 5th edition of Local Health Bulletin from 250 Bed General Hospital, Kishoreganj for the year 2016. Along with information of 250 Bed District Hospital Kishoreganj this bulletin also contains some health related data of the district, including basic demography, health facilities, resources, performances, strength, and weaknesses. This Bulletin will disseminate health information in people of district as well as in health service providers. This will help better utilization and further quantitative and qualitative improvement of health service in the district. We acknowledge the support and service of our colleagues in preparing this bulletin. We thank and express our heart-felt gratitude towards MOHFW and DGHS, in particular, MIS, DGHS for this very praiseworthy step to continue to publish Local Health Bulletin by developing a Soft- ware Format. Important information and necessary issues you want to raise
250 Bed General hospital, Kishoreganj has been transformed to 250 bed from 100 Bed Sadar Hospital in 2007. Sadar Hospital was transformed from 50 bed to 100 bed in 2000 under a development project. No 3rd class and 4th class employee could be employed in that development project due to some legal suit by one candidate. The case is still under trial at High Court, after recent transformation from 100 bed to 250 bed some post of Consultant,Medical Officer and some 3rd class post are filled-up from time to time but most of the other posts are still vacant. So this hospital is suffering from shortage of Doctors, Nurse, 3rd and 4th class employee, in particular cleaner, aya, security guards. Despite of shortage of doctors,Nurse and support Staff in our hospital we are running a 10 Bed Neonatal Ward (one 10 bed Special Care Newborn Unit- SCANU), 10 Bed Cardio Pulmonary Ward (Alternative CCU) and a Dedicated 20 Bed Post-Operative Gynae-Obstetric ward. Again, in spite of all the short-comings we received the prize of Best District Hospital in 2008 and 2009 in EOC performance.
