Preface

I am very delighted to know that health bulletin on the Rangamati General Hospital is going to be published for the 5th consecutive year. As usual the health bulletin 2015 contains all the health related information of Rangamati General Hospital for the year 2015. We are working hard in line with the government’s plan to improve maternal and neonatal health. Total number of pregnant women taken at least 1 ANC has increased 4 fold in 2015 compared to 2014. Similarly number of children treated under IMCI has increased dramatically—more than ten thousand compared to 2014. Major and minor surgeries also increased. Practically our overall progress is good. However we have a huge shortage of stuff, especially physicians. Again infrastructure of our 100 bed hospital is still is of 50 bed(No information of infrastructure in this bulletin as there is no provision in the given format of the bulletin to give information regarding infrastructure). I like to draw kind attention of the higher authority in this regard. I hope the information given in this bulletin will help the stakeholders to identify the gaps and scopes of improvement to overcome the constraints and drawbacks of the institution.

Dr. Sneha Kanti Chakma
Superitendent

Important information and necessary issues you want to raise
We are trying hard to deliver maximum services within our limited logistics and resources. Last year data shows a dramatic improvement in many aspects compared to previous year. However we failed to deliver services in areas like opthalmology cardiology and orthopedics due to lack of post and consultant. We are afraid we cannot keep the pace of improvement through this year as there is an acute shortage of medical officers. What we need at presents are 1. To fulfill the vacant post of medical officers 2. An orthopedic surgeon 3. To create a post of a cardiologist and fulfill the post 4. More training for doctors and nurses on IMCI, cardiology, EmOC and DM 5. A statistical assistant posted after the post duly created. We cannot but to mention that our hospital will be used for RgMC (Rangamati Medical College) students’ clinical classes from this year until the new medical college hospital is built. So, maintenance and immediate infrastructure development of this hospital deserves an extra attention. We are very happy that our health bulletin 2015 is going to be published uninterrupted. The higher authority as well as the general public can use the information within the bulletin as baseline data to compare our services in future and thereby give us much good advice to help us modify ourselves in a better way.
