Preface

It is my great pleasure that heath bulletin containing all the heath related information of 2015 of National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases is going to be published. NICVD is a State of Art institute for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases in Bangladesh. NICVD was established in 1978 with the aim of providing services to the cardiovascular patients and to develop skilled manpower in this field. The journey was started with the technical cooperation of JICA. From the very beginning NICVD was working to provide super specialized care to the Cardiovascular patients as well to develop well trained manpower. The institute feels proud to acknowledge the technical co-operation of the Government of Japan for the development of technology and manpower. The Institute is showing all efforts to keep pace with this development .The Institute always provides the latest technical facilities for the non-invasive diagnostic procedures. In July,1982 the institute started its academic program by introducing MD (cardiology) course. Subsequently Diploma in cardiology was started in July 1984 and MS (CV&TS) course in July 1985. The institute confers 216 doctors MD degree, 138 doctors MS degree and 205 doctors D-Card degree. Now NICVD is the apex cardiovascular center of the country. NICVD is committed to improve its services and to contribute more in the field of cardiovascular science.By this time it is well reputed internationally. I hope our relentless efforts will fulfill the dream with which the Institute started its journey and will continue its journey with all the reputations.

Important information and necessary issues you want to raise
Our goals are to develop more efficient manpower to provide optimum clinical services and to build up NICVD as a center of excellence. Till date NICVD is playing an effective role in providing standard treatment for the cardiac patients. In spite of so many limitations the efficient and well trained personnel of this Institute are working to provide services to the patients and are contributing to develop skilled manpower. We need to increase our bed capacities and other logistic facilities. Now we are working for full automation system. The plan to increase the hospital building in vertical extension is under process. Several new post creation is also under process. In future we want provide the housing and lodging facilities to our officers and staff. We also need to add cardiac ambulance and air ambulance in our transport section. Finally I am very happy to write this health bulletin , 2016 because this document will help us to compare our progress in upcoming years. This is very useful document and will help the people to understand heath services and to provide us the useful advice for improvement in future.
