Preface

Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital is one of the best public and tertiary level hospital with modern medical facilities. It is situated at the central point of the capital city at Sher-E-Bangl Naga over 19.8 acres of land nearby Gonabhaban and Parliament house. Now it is a 850 bedded full fledged Medical College Hospital including 28 indoor depart's as well as outdoor services are avlable here. On an average 3500 patients get out- patient services from different depart's and the demand is rapidly increasing day by day. About 300 patients get daily admission in different departs and about 550 patients take emergency services from emergency department.Ten bedded ICU , 28 bedded burn, plastic and reconstructive surgery department providing services. Since 2006 MBBS and BDS courses have been going on with distinguished teachers and results are satisfactory. All academic activities including central morning session, daily intra-units,weekly departmental grand round and journal presentation, scientific seminar, national and Internationale workshop, symposium, with extracurricular activities are going on regular routine basis. Since 2010 this MCH is a center for MCPS, FCPS,post graduate medical examinations of different disciplines are going on with full reputation. Almost all area of this MCH under coverage of digital sound and service system with CCTV monitoring,central oxygen plant and gas line, optical networking with broad band internet service and WIFI system. Besides these a mega project is taken to improve services especial priority Gynae & Obs, pediatrics, pathology and radiology departments operation theater, cabin block, new ward expansion, hospital gate, drainage system,gardening and beautification of surrounding of this MCH. We are proud for achieving of Heaths Minister National Award 2015. I hope all the activities may contributed to achieve present government goal of vision 2021 Digital Bangladesh. Important information and necessary issues you want to raise
ShSMCH is very important due to the geographical position as well as the center point of the capital city. On an average 3000-3500 visitors come here daily for , their necessary treatment .It is increasing day by day. There are 850 beds, 13 wards, about 28 departments i.e . medicine , surgery, , gynae and obs, pediatrics, ENT, orthopedics, ophthalmology , casualty ,respiratory medicine, gastroenterology, nuro-medicine,physical medicine. nephrology . skin and vd, oral and maxillofacial surgery, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, urology and burn. Eextension of manpower, ICU, HDU,NICU, PICU, and vertical extension of building is now under processing. All academic activities, e g. seminar symposiun , gournal presentation, morning session, clenical presentation, medical education have been running with full participation of all teachers and trainee doctors.Besides our undergraduate examinations almost all sorts of post graduate examinations e. g FCPS, MCPS are conducted here .
