Preface

We are very pleased to publish local health bulletin of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for the year 2016. Rajshahi Medical College Hospital is the only tertiary level hospital in this area which receives patient from a huge catchment area that includes whole Rajshahi division, Northen part of Kulna Division. Rajshahi Medical College Hospital started its journey in 1958 with 550 beds including 30 beds for infectious disease hospital. With time this hospital expanded physically and patient load has also increasing in manifold. But the manpower specially the 3rd class & 4th class employees remains the same. With this limitations this hospital is trying relentlessly to provide desired services to the people. In this hospital several new departments and wards has been established and new instruments with modern treatment and investigation facility has also been incorporated. ICU, CCU, HDU, Nephrology with dialysis facilities, Neurology, Oncology, Cardiology, Neonatology etc. are the specialized departments which are giving services to the people of this area with desired satisfaction. MRI, CT scan, Angiogram etc. are fully functioning here. Recently we received a Bracky-therapy machine and hopefully we can start its operation very soon. But we are yet to receive Cobalt-60/Linear accelerator machine without which we are facing difficulty to treat the cancer patient. Our MRI machine and Cath lab are very old, supplier company already expressed their inability to extend the contact period for maintenance because the spare parts are no more available of these machines in the market. So, MRI & Cath Lab machine needs to be replaced very soon. Our existing Laundry plant is very very old and frequently it goes out of order. I would like to draw attention of our higher authorities to replace this years old washing plant.

Important information and necessary issues you want to raise
Rajshahi Medical College Hospital is holding and treating patent three times more than its capacity. Our future plan is to open a modern OT complex and a Cardiac surgery units. The vertical extension of our new fourth storied building will start soon, after completion of this construction work we are planning to open our cardiac surgery unit. Our doctors and staffs of all level are trying with utmost dedication to fulfill the needs of the patients. I am grateful to all our doctors, nurses and other staffs for their sincere endeavor. At the end I like to express my heartfelt thanks and gratitude to MOHFW & DGHS for supporting us relentlessly in every aspect.
